Theia, Cotec’s tool for self-diagnosis and management support, can be seen as a kind of lens focused only on i4.0, providing an i4.0 perspective on the architecture of innovation.

The packaging materials company, José Neves, participated in the implementation testing phase of Theia. “It was something that forced us to reflect and raise questions about the entire organization of the company”, assumes the administrator, José Neves. “Today, a company cannot only have quality, it has to be constantly upgraded and has an obligation to surprise the market. And Theia is a tool that will help us doing this constantly,” he says.

With that in mind, the company is developing a project with the University of Minho to design packaging for the food sector, capable of providing all kinds of information about the product, from microbiology, to temperature and expiration dates. In addition, in January the company started a project to place sensors on all production lines, which will provide immediate information to the other sectors of the company, with the consequent advantages in terms of management and customer service. “And all of this was born because Theia forced us to think further,” says José Neves.
